When you’re barely staying afloat—trying to juggle work, family, friends, schedules, health, and emotions—the last thing you need is for someone to hand you one more thing to carry.
But what if that someone is Jesus, and what if that thing is a life raft?
Spending time with Jesus isn’t just one more thing to add to your checklist. It’s THE thing—the buoy—that’s going to keep your checklist from dragging you under.
In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Jesus is not a life coach. He’s a Savior. He doesn’t just want to help you cope with the water filling your lungs. He doesn’t just want to stand on the shoreline and give you technique advice about how to get your head back above the waves. He wants to dive in and pull you up out of something so deep it will kill you.
Sympathy says, “I’m sorry you’re in that situation.” But sympathy isn’t what Jesus operated in. Over and over again, Scripture tells us Jesus was moved by compassion. And compassion doesn’t say, “I’m sorry you’re in that situation.” Compassion says, “I want to change your situation.”
Jesus has that same compassion for you today. All He needs you to do is come to Him, and let Him be your life raft.
His yoke is easy. His burden is light.
Sit with Jesus, and find your rest.
