It’s your toddler saying, «Up!” wanting to be carried or on you at all times.
It’s singing The Itsy Bitsy Spider at the top of your lungs at 5 pm on the way home from your older child’s sports practice because if your toddler falls asleep in the car now, he won’t go to bed until at least 10 pm and there goes your «me time.»
It’s making it home, but he’s such a grump monster that there’s at least an hour of tantrum after tantrum until bedtime.
It’s following her around the park because if you don’t, she’s always one little wobble away from a broken arm, bruise, or stitches.
It’s always having to pay attention because this wild, rowdy boy seems to put everything that’s a choking hazard into his mouth.
But
it’s also wet, sloppy kisses on your cheeks, lips, and hands with chubby little palms and stubby fingers dangling from your shoulders.
It’s hearing “I wuv you” with the cutest speech impediment that completely melts your heart.
It’s watching them evolve from a baby to a sweet little girl or boy.
And it can be a battlefield,
but there’s something beautiful about the sweet spot between baby and becoming a child,
